PRIMARY DIGITAL LITERACY

Digital literacy is a crucial skill for learners of all ages, including the youngest primary students. The digital world enables us to connect, collaborate, innovate, and discover new information on an ever-expanding scale. Therefore, learners must be equipped to effectively use technology from the very start of their educational journey.

What Will Students Learn?

Students will acquire digital skills that are fundamental to their future learning and development. They will:

  • Recognize their role and the role of others in a connected world, making informed decisions about the online information they encounter.
  • Gain knowledge and understanding that enable them to respond to and assess future technological advancements.
  • Develop the ability to create increasingly complex documents and presentations.
  • Learn how to be positive contributors to the digital world.
  • Use digital technology safely, safeguarding their physical and emotional wellbeing.
How Is the Programme Taught?

Digital Literacy can be taught as an independent subject or integrated into broader learning contexts. For example, students can develop content creation skills while preparing presentations for subjects like mathematics or science, and safety lessons can be incorporated into cross-curricular activities about conducting and protecting themselves in the modern world. This course prepares students for progression to Lower Secondary Digital Literacy.
