ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

Our new English as a Second Language curriculum equips even the youngest learners with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively. It helps them develop the skills necessary to interpret various information, media, and texts. The program encourages active learning, fosters thinking skills, and promotes intellectual engagement.

Target Audience

This curriculum is designed for learners who speak a language other than English at home, with no prior experience in English required. It is based on the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), a global standard for mapping learners’ progress in English.

What Will Students Learn?

The curriculum fosters learners' curiosity about different languages and cultures and how these influence our understanding of the world. Students will view themselves as successful language learners, able to communicate effectively and confidently, and enjoy reading a variety of texts as their skills develop.

How Is the Programme Taught?

The framework supports an integrated approach to planning and teaching, aimed at developing effective communication skills in English. The five strands, along with their learning objectives, work together to build knowledge, skills, and understanding in:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Use of English
  • Listening
  • Speaking
