PRIMARY MATHEMATICS

Mathematics helps us to think analytically and enhances our reasoning abilities. Our primary mathematics curriculum fosters a lifelong enthusiasm for analytical and rational thinking.

What Will Students Learn?

Learners will develop a comprehensive understanding of mathematics by focusing on principles, patterns, systems, functions, and relationships. They will become mathematically competent and fluent in computation, applying these skills to everyday situations.

A unique feature of our curriculum, ‘Thinking and Working Mathematically,’ encourages learners to engage in discussions, challenge ideas, and provide evidence to support conjectures and solutions. This approach helps learners actively make sense of concepts and build connections between different facts, procedures, and ideas, fostering higher-order thinking and a mathematical perspective on the world.

How Is the Programme Taught?

The curriculum is divided into three main strands, which are integrated throughout every primary mathematics stage. Learners will develop skills in:

  • Number
  • Geometry and Measure
  • Statistics and Probability

These strands work together to help students recognize connections between mathematical concepts, engaging in creative mathematical thinking to enhance numerical fluency and competence.
